Time Magazine & Fossils
IF ITS LATE FALL, IT MUST BE TIME FOR TIME MAGAZINE’S ANNUAL PRO-EVOLUTION ARTICLE!

It is late fall and Time Magazine’s annual "Ain’t Evolution Great?" article has arrived! Two years ago they addressed the Origin of Life and last year they addressed the Origin of Humans. This year’s December 4, 1995 Time addresses the fossil record of animals. They address one of the many huge mysteries of Evolutionary thought: the "Big Bang of Animal Evolution."

The mystery is this: the fossil record shows an "abrupt appearance of an astonishing array of multicelled animals." Every current phyla of animals that exist today appeared in the (supposed) oldest fossils. The article says there is a "frustrating gap in the fossil record." The fossil record shows many millions of incredibly complex animals, but no transitional forms that evolution desperately seeks. Thus the evidence is indeed "frustrating" to them. Creationists would predict exactly what is seen in the fossil record, since Creationists deny there ever were transitional animals.

The article shows fossils of animals that were very complex, and answer their "frustrating" problem by saying "golly, they must have been "evolving at supersonic speed" (direct quote).

Here are two phrases every witnessing Creationist should have at the tip of their tongue: stasis and sudden appearance. The fossil evidence always shows stasis (which means stay the same, no transitional forms) and sudden appearance refers to the complex animals having no "simpler" ancestors. This entire article wrestles against this reality. It admits "scientists delicately slide across data thin ice."
