SUBJECT: "How to Effectively Witness to Evolutionists and Atheists." by Bill Morgan P.E.

A few weeks ago I was flipping through the TV channels when a show caught my eye. It was the Maury Povitch show and the famous magic trick of a woman being sawn in half was being shown. Soon I learned that the purpose of the show was to reveal the "secrets" behind these mysterious and marvelous tricks. After learning how simple these secrets were, I was surprised I never saw through them beforehand, but never again would I be amazed when I saw a woman "sawn in half."

One of the main goals of my lesson is to teach adults and youth how easy it is to see the "secrets and tricks" behind evolution teaching. If these "secrets and tricks" are learned, people will never embrace the lie of the Theory of Evolution.

I equate my lesson to CPR. If I fall to the floor with a heart attack, I hope people do not form a circle around me and discuss complex details about the heart, the brains and lungs. I hope someone leaps into action with CPR, and someone else immediately calls 911.

Many lectures on Creation are outstanding, but they often are not practical out on the front lines when you are confronted by an atheist. You often never get a chance to implement the detailed lessons you learned when you attempt to defend your faith. You need quick, powerful and simple points.

My lesson has "evolved" over many years and is the result of years of street witnessing. I hope to provide Christians at all levels of science knowledge with what I feel are the most effective ways to witness to atheists and evolutionists in schools, at work or on the street. If I were to teach a room full of children or a room full of PhDs, I would teach essentially the same lesson. A lesson that is quick simple and effective.

We as Christians have the truth....it is right there in our Bible. Sometimes it is hard to effectively communicate that truth.

The scariest person for the average Christian to encounter is the smug scientist who scoffs at his or her intellect. The goal of my lesson is to equip you so you eagerly seek these people out and not be afraid of them.

Answers

1) When someone tells you they are an atheist or evolutionist, the first temptation is to give them a long speech on why they shouldn’t be. I do not feel this is the most effective tactic. People prefer to talk than listen. Let them. From my street witnessing experience I have found the most effective reply when someone tells you they are an atheist is to ask "Why?"

Jesus was the best witnesser of all time. Next time you read the Gospels, look at all the questions He asked. It was not because He needed to learn, it is an effective means to witness. When you ask someone "Why?" get ready for blank stares and vague answers. They will say things like "science," "biology," "fossils," - if this is said ask for the best, piece of evidence that has led them to be an atheist (an answer like "biology" is too vague). Any answer that is not vague, we will cover.

2) Here is a fun and effective witnessing tip. When someone says they believe in the Theory of Evolution, or if a teacher is teaching it, simply ask "Which Theory of Evolution do you believe in?" This question will stump 99% of evolutionists. I was an atheist, and was falsely smug in thinking the evolution camp had no dissension...we had unity! This belief was false, there are many theories of evolution! Most evolutionists do not know this! Theory #1 is Darwinian or Gradualism. This teaches the changes that made new animals were slow and gradual. Theory #2 points out that there is no living or fossil evidence for these slow changes, thus they happened quickly. This theory is called "Punctuated Equilibrium." Theory #3 is Theistic Evolution, a belief that God used Evolution. There is no Bible verse nor science evidence to support this. Peer pressure has caused many to compromise and their trust in the Bible. In summary, there are many theories of evolution.

3) Use the design argument. Just as a pen and piano were the result of an intelligent designer making it for a purpose, likewise the eye and brain was made by an intelligent designer for a purpose.

4) Faith in time is a trick by evolutionists. Science is founded upon observation and saying "it happened over many years" is a blind faith answer, not a science answer.

5) The word "evolution" means "change and changes do occur. But the changes that are observed are changes with in a population. New animals are not being created. People get taller, but they are still people, dogs can be bred, but they are still dogs. Here is the bottom line. An evolutionist believes that bacteria evolved into blues whales (over billions of years). Creationists believe blue whale only came from blue whales, and bacterai will only produce bacteria. Ask yourself, which side is supported by observation?
