I know all too well what a terrible thing cancer is...it took the life of my beloved mother. Cancer was in her body at a time when she never felt more healthy and happy. She was exercising, eating properly, but a deadly process was going on unseen and unfettered. Sixteen months after the doctors discovered a lymph node that felt too hard, the spirit had left her body (Luke 8:55).

Many people think the church is pretty healthy and happy right now. But it is alarming what many of the people attending church are believing these days. They believe God used evolution to create.

"What’s the matter.....don’t you think God is smart enough to create using evolution?"

"I think God is even more awesome since he used evolution to create."

The above quotes are commonly heard if you talk to enough people. I hear this routinely in person and on America On Line. An entire book could easily be written on this topic, but I would like to share what I feel is an effective way to share with "Theistic Evolutionists (TE)."

1) Ask them why they are TEs. They must think science teaches it and the it is not contradictory to the Bible. In this newsletter we will address the Bible’s teachings.

Christians! Memorize Genesis 2:7 and 2:21-22.

The Bible is the Sword of the Spirit, use it (Ephesians 6:17, Hebrews 4:12). I feel a TE must explain these two verses. Gen 2:7 clearly says God formed Adam from dust and he became a living soul when God breathed into him. Challenge (in love!) the TE to explain that verse.

A common reply is that it is an allegory to dirt having similar chemicals to those in you and I! They may say the Hebrew implies this, but for thousands of years, the Hebrew scholars did not teach that meaning (and they know Hebrew better than you and I).

Ask them how the living soul came to be, as a result of God’s breath. This does not sound like an explanation of ape like rascals becoming Adam!

Imagine their explanation of a "vertical" progression from dirt to Adam having a shred of validity. Genesis 2:21-22 kills any validity (to the honest Bible student). All of a sudden you have a radical "horizontal" turn to make Eve (from Adam’s rib). Maybe man evolved from dirt...but women certainly didn’t! (Maybe thats why they are neater).

TE thinking undermines the validity of the Bible and opens it up to the reader picking and choosing what is literal and what is allegorical. Look at these Jesus seminars where "scholars" are deciding the actual words of Jesus!

This is the cancer, it is growing and in my opinion if you allow it to grow in your church, you may soon be short one lampstand (Revelation 2:5).

My opinion: if a statement in the Bible is not seen in a dream or in a vision, take it as literal!
